Our Story

About us

The BAI Foundation is a Non-Profit Company that is focused on the upliftment of African Creative Arts, especially within New
Media. For youth by youth, our key focus is the championing of digital art and entertainment and independent content creation.
Whether through conversations, workshops, festivals or the awarding of work within the field, The BAI Foundation wants to
advance the African voice and the scope of its creativity.

Podcasts & New Media

We have also worked on multiple podcasts, including having co-produced the continental Afriquan Film
Podcast and co-curated episodes All That Yazz, an entertainment industry podcast that was in 10% most
shared podcasts globally on Spotify in 2022.

The Showcase has collaborated with digital platforms and
their communities to make their initiatives come alive in front of a live physical audience. One of these
activations included Meet My Friends, an online listening session community commonly hosted by
acclaimed music curator, ON.

What we do

Audience and industry development

BAI Showcase is an event that celebrates and promotes youth creativity by providing our digitaltrailblazers with a physical platform to showcase their works.

Our showcases have premiered local webseries, digital shorts, short films and film and television previews. They’ve also included performances from award-winning comedians, alternative DJ’s and rising musicians on the digital and independent space.

Workshops

We’ve also done a series of live talks that provide insight into various and often niche aspects of the
entertainment industry. Some of our panels have had topics like New Age Media and Broadcasting,
Acting Abroad & The Music Videos Landscape. Our latest Showcase had an individual workshop with
Mandlakayise Dube, director of Top 10 Netflix Film Silverton Siege, on what he believes are the
fundamentals of filmmaking.
